Everything your grocery & supermarket needs
Weighed & loose items
Sell vegetables, grains and deli by weight. Read weight- and price-embedded scale barcodes (EAN-13) straight off the label, or enter kilos on a quick weigh pad — priced to the paisa.
Batch & expiry with FEFO
Track every batch with its expiry. Sales auto-deduct the earliest-expiring stock first (FEFO) and never touch expired goods. Near-expiry and value-at-risk alerts keep shrinkage down.
Fast checkout
A supermarket-grade till: scan, a tap-board of favourites by category, and an on-screen PLU keypad. Hold and recall bills, split tender, and print or WhatsApp the receipt.
Barcodes & multi-barcode
Print your own barcodes, map several codes to one item, and handle multi-pack and loose variants without duplicate SKUs.
Inventory & purchase
Goods-receipt notes capture batch, expiry and cost; stock and weighted-average cost update automatically. Reorder alerts, supplier ledgers and stock-take are built in.
GST billing & reports
Per-line GST, B2B and B2C invoices, HSN summaries and tax reports ready for filing — nothing to bolt on.
Loyalty & khata
Customer loyalty points and credit (khata) keep regulars coming back, with reminders over WhatsApp.
Multi-store ready
Run several stores with separate books, then roll them up into one consolidated owner dashboard.
What it fixes on day one
Queues build at peak hours while loose produce is weighed and keyed in by hand.
Scale-barcode and weighed items scan straight through the counter, with barcode lookup and hold-and-recall keeping the line moving.
Dairy, bread and packaged goods quietly expire on the shelf and become write-offs.
Batch and expiry tracking with FEFO surfaces short-dated stock early so it sells or clears before it is lost.
Shelves run empty on fast movers while cash sits in slow, over-ordered stock.
Weighted-average costing, reorder alerts and goods-receipt notes show true stock and cost so ordering is data-led.
How a grocery & supermarket runs on Alfa Decode
A grocery shop or supermarket lives on speed at the till and control over stock. Alfa Decode runs a fast counter with barcode scanning, weighed and scale-barcode items for loose produce and deli, multi-barcode lookup for the same product across pack sizes, and hold-and-recall so a half-rung basket never blocks the queue. Split tender, printed or WhatsApp receipts, and offline-first billing mean the tills keep ringing even when the internet drops, syncing back to the cloud once it returns.
Behind the shelves it is a full inventory and accounts system. Goods-receipt notes, weighted-average cost, reorder alerts and stock-takes keep shelves stocked and shrinkage visible, while batch and expiry tracking with FEFO flags short-dated dairy, bread and packaged goods before they cost you. GST or VAT is built in and filing-ready, day-close gives you a clean Z-report, and customer khata credit ledgers handle your regulars.

Grocery & Supermarket software — your questions
Can it handle items sold by weight with a weighing scale?
Yes. Alfa Decode reads weight- and price-embedded scale barcodes (EAN-13) directly, and also lets staff key in kilograms on a weigh pad. The line is priced exactly to the scale, to the paisa.
Does it track expiry dates and batches?
Yes. Every batch carries its expiry. Sales deduct the earliest-expiring non-expired stock first (FEFO), and you get expired / critical / near-expiry alerts plus a value-at-risk report.
Is it fast enough for a busy supermarket counter?
Yes — scan, a category tap-board of favourites, an on-screen PLU pad, hold/recall and split tender make checkout quick even at peak.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Alfa Decode is local-first: the app runs on your own counter and keeps working with no internet, then syncs to the cloud automatically when you reconnect. Perfect for areas with patchy connectivity.
Is it tax compliant?
Yes. GST, VAT and sales tax are built in — no add-ons. The app applies the right rules for your country, tax is calculated per line, and your filings are a click away.
Can I run it on my own server instead of the cloud?
Yes. Alfa Decode comes in two editions — Cloud (subscription) and On-Premise (one-time licence + AMC) — from one codebase. Your data can stay entirely on your premises.
Can it handle loose produce sold by weight?
Yes. Alfa Decode supports weighed items and scale-barcode labels, so fruit, vegetables, grains and deli lines priced by weight scan straight through the counter without manual keying.
Will it track expiry on perishable stock?
Yes. Batch and expiry tracking with FEFO applies to perishables and packaged goods, flagging short-dated dairy, bread and other items so staff can clear or discount them before they are written off.
Does the till keep working if the internet goes down?
Yes. Billing is offline-first, so the counter keeps running with no connection and syncs sales, stock and receipts back to the cloud automatically once the link returns.
Can I run more than one store on it?
Yes. The platform is multi-store with separate books per store and consolidated reporting, so each branch keeps its own accounts while you see the whole business together.
